Where in Hampshire is the Watercress Line?
The Watercress Line is located just off the A31, about seven miles from Winchester. It is recommended that visitors start their journey from either Alresford or Alton.

The Mid Hants Railway is generally known as the Watercress Line thanks to its proud history of transporting watercress to the fresh produce markets of the UK during the boom in popularity in Victorian times.

The Watercress Line has now operated the remaining section of the line as a heritage railway for longer than its life under British Railways (1948-73). The railway is operated by Mid-Hants Railway Ltd, whose major shareholder is the Mid Hants Railway Preservation Society Ltd (MHRPS), a registered charity.

Toilets – facilities are available on board most trains (not disabled) and at all four stations. Picnic areas – these are available at Sheffield Park, Horsted Keynes and Kingscote. Snacks can also be eaten on board the train.
Can you take a dog on the Bluebell Railway?
Yes, dogs are welcome at the Bluebell Railway on our standard travel services. Dogs, except registered assistance dogs, are not permitted into any catering outlets, the museum or the Shop at Sheffield Park, or on any of our on board dining services.
