What is spin glasses in neural network?
Spin-glass-like states that occur in models of neural networks can provide important insights into states of low and high brain activity that have been observed in mammals. In spin-glass states, the interaction between spins does not allow individual spins to point in the same direction as their neighbours.
What is spin glass transition?
If a magnetic field is applied as the sample is cooled to the transition temperature, magnetization of the sample increases as described by the Curie law. Upon reaching Tc, the sample becomes a spin glass and further cooling results in little change in magnetization. This slow decay is particular to spin glasses.
Why are spin glasses important?
That enables us to do some statistical averaging, which in turn allows us to understand the system mathematically and physically. Spin glasses are also systems with this sort of “quenched disorder,” but here the disorder is magnetic rather than structural.
What is spin ice system?
Spin ices are materials that consist of regular corner-linked tetrahedra of magnetic ions, each of which has a non-zero magnetic moment, often abridged to “spin”, which must satisfy in their low-energy state a “two-in, two-out” rule on each tetrahedron making the crystalline structure (see figure 2).
What is quenched disorder?
Quenched disorder is frozen heterogeneity that is a background random potential for the fluctuating (thermal and/or quantum mechanical) degrees of freedom. We also distinguish quenched disorder from annealed ”disorder”, where the random degrees of freedom are ergodic.
What is replica symmetry?
When using mean-field theory to perform one’s calculations, taking this limit often requires introducing extra order parameters, a property known as “replica symmetry breaking” which is closely related to ergodicity breaking and slow dynamics within disorder systems.
Is entropy a disorder?
Entropy is not disorder or chaos or complexity or progress towards those states. Entropy is a metric, a measure of the number of different ways that a set of objects can be arranged.
What are physic disorders?
In physics, the terms order and disorder designate the presence or absence of some symmetry or correlation in a many-particle system. In condensed matter physics, systems typically are ordered at low temperatures; upon heating, they undergo one or several phase transitions into less ordered states.
Is iron a ferromagnetic?
Ferromagnetism is a kind of magnetism that is associated with iron, cobalt, nickel, and some alloys or compounds containing one or more of these elements. It also occurs in gadolinium and a few other rare-earth elements.
