What are the guidelines for stability studies?

Stability studies should include testing of those attributes of the drug substance that are susceptible to change during storage and are likely to influence quality, safety, and/or efficacy. The testing should cover, as appropriate, the physical, chemical, biological, and microbiological attributes.

Why is Ich Q1F withdrawn?

Due to this divergence in global stability testing requirements, the ICH Steering Committee has decided to withdraw ICH Q1F and to leave definition of storage conditions in Climatic Zones III and IV to the respective regions and WHO.

What is Zone IVb stability conditions?

B Change to 30°C/75%RH as the long-term stability testing condition for Zone IV in the interest of patient safety worldwide. C Add a new climatic Zone IVb to accommodate hot and very humid areas (30°C/75% RH). The present Zone IV (30°C/65%RH) would become Zone IVa.

What is Rh in stability testing?

Storage at higher temperatures may also be recommended, e.g. 3 months at 45-50 °C and 75% relative humidity (RH) for zone IV. Where significant changes (see below) occur in the course of accelerated studies, additional tests at intermediate conditions should be conducted, e.g. 30 ± 2 °C and 60 ± 5% RH.

In which ICH guidelines QbD is described?

According to ICH Q8(R2) guideline, Quality by Design (QbD) is “A systematic approach to development that begins with predefined objectives and emphasizes product and process understanding and Process control, based on sound science and Quality Risk Management”[4-6].

What is q1f?

ICH Q1 F described harmonised global stability testing requirements in order to facilitate access to medicines by reducing the number of different storage conditions. The document was adopted by the ICH Steering Committee in February 2002 and subsequently implemented in the ICH regions.

What is the stability zone for India?

Classification of Countries According to Climate Zones
CountryClimatic ZonesAssigned To Zone
HondurasII, IVaIVa
Hong KongIVaIVa
IndiaIII, IVbIVb

What are the four climatic zones?

There are 4 major climate zones:

  • Tropical zone from 0°–23.5°(between the tropics)
  • Subtropics from 23.5°–40°
  • Temperate zone from 40°–60°
  • Cold zone from 60°–90°

What is Zone IV?

zone IVa: 30°C and 65 % RH hot and humid. zone IVb: 30°C and 75 % RH hot and very humid.
