How good is the Shimano 2300 groupset?

Having said that, durability of Shimano’s 2300 series groupset is very good relative to its price. Compatibility with other groupsets in the Shimano range is somewhat limited however, as only the 2300 and Claris groupsets have 16 or 24 gears.

Should I get a Shimano MTB rear mech?

Nevertheless since you have already got it and since there is a chance it might still work so you might want to try, this is an excellent guide. If not or if you can’t be bothered you should get a Shimano mtb rear mech, The only other rules you must stick to is it should be an SGS version (i.e. not the GS variant) and it must not be for 10 speed.

Is the 2300 Rd short enough for a 32T?

How many teeth are in a Shimano Claris chain?

The Shimano Claris chainset comes in double and triple configurations and in metallic stone silver (pictured) or black. The Claris groupset has four chainset options: a double or a triple, in stone metallic silver or black. The double comes in a ‘compact’ 50-34 tooth configuration, matching the groupset’s design philosophy as one for newcomers.

What happened to Shimano’s thumb shifters?

Gone is the thumb shifter of the 2300 groupset, replaced by the mechanism found on all of Shimano’s upscale mechanical groupsets, in which the brake lever and a second lever operated by the index finger control shifting. Shimano claim the design offers a more intuitive feel; a sentiment Campagnolo is unlikely to share.

Are Shimano Claris cassettes any good?

Shimano promise moderate spring tension, so while it’s unlikely to have the positive feel of its upscale cousins, it’s gentler actuation might be well-suited to its intended audience. There are three Shimano Claris cassettes: running variously from 11 teeth to 28, 30, and 32 teeth.
