Bronze DofE does not particularly stand out on a CV or Personal Statement. Due to the numbers of students that complete the Bronze Award each year (well over 100,000) it simply doesn’t separate you from the rest.

Has anyone died Duke of Edinburgh Award?

Has anyone died doing DofE? There is currently no record of any participant deaths on a DofE expedition, which is statistically impressive given 160,000 people complete their Award each year. In 2015, however, a DofE Leader was killed by lightning strike in the Brecon Beacons.

What is Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award?

Silver is the second level of the Award, and takes a minimum of 6 months to complete if you have completed Bronze or 12 months if you have not completed Bronze – Direct Entry. You can start your Silver Award as soon as you’ve completed your Bronze.

If you didn’t do Silver, you must complete an additional 6 months in either volunteering or the longer of the skill/physical sections. It doesn’t matter if you’ve completed Bronze. This means Gold would take at least 18 months to complete.
