Are Shimano XT gears good?
Shimano XT: Total Weight 1,804g Shimano XT is often considered the standard in mountain bike drivetrain options. From price, to weight, to durability and performance, it all seems to strike a perfect balance and many riders out there are die hard fans and will run nothing else.
Is Shimano XT better than SLX?
Compared to the SLX, the new XT feels more crisp and of slightly more high-end quality. However, the price will show if it’s really worth the upgrade. On a purely functional basis, there is little to complain about on the entry-level groupset.

Is Deore XT same as XT?
Deore XT carries the big advantage of having the Shadow Plus technology (link), unlike the Deore which in the best case has the Shadow compact design. Simply put, the XT works faster, more accurately, more silently and doesn’t need regular service for adjustement.
Is deore compatible with XT?

Do Shimano road shifters work with MTB derailleur?
Shimano MTB and Road shifters have the same pull ratio until you get to the Shimano MTB 10 speed. Therefore, you can use a Shimano Road 10 speed shifter with a 9 speed MTB Front or Rear derailleur, but not with a 10 Speed front or rear MTB Derailleur.
Can you use road shifters with MTB derailleur?

Can you mix and match shifters and derailleurs?
In many instances, it is possible to mix different levels of shifters and derailleurs from the same brand (e.g. Dura-Ace/Ultegra/105; Red/Force/Rival; Super Record/Record/Chorus), however it’s not safe to assume that this will always be the case.
Are bike shifters interchangeable?
No, different maker or different model with different number of “speed” shifters have different pull ratio (i.e. the length of cable pulled by a single shift). Usually it’s safe to use different model with same number of gears from the same maker.
Can I use Shimano XT 11-32 with 10-speed shifters?
One possible solution is to use a Shimano Ultegra RD-6700 long-cage GS version to get the range you want, or even an SS cage if you have a modern carbon frame with vertical dropouts with a Shimano XT 11-32 10-speed cassette and your 10-speed shifters. This is not a Shimano-approved setup, but it will work fine.
What is the difference between 10 speed and 11 Speed Shifters?
Basically, the 11 speed Shimano MTB shifters pull 3.6mm of cable per click. 10 speed shifters pull 3.4mm of cable per click. Accordingly, to use this shifter as a 10 speed shifter (with one un-used click) with a 10 speed derailleur and cassette, we need to reduce movement at the derailleur arm by about 5.5%.
Are 10 speed new shifters compatible with 8 speed RDS?
Since the amount of needed cable pull differs for each number of rear sprockets, there is no cross compatibility whatsoever. 10 speed new shifters work only with new 10 speed RDs. 8 speed ones with 8 speed RDs. And so on. Old standard comes in 8 to 10 speed variants, while the new one comes in 9 to 11 speeds.
Are Shimano road shifters compatible with Shimano MTB RDS?
Shimano 10 speed road shifters are compatible with Shimano MTB RDs from 6 to 9 speeds and with shimano road RDs from 6 to 10 speeds. Exceptions are Shimano Tiagra 4700 road shifters that work with Shimano Tiagra 4700 RDs and Shimano 11 speed road RDs. Another exception is the new “gravel” group (with hydraulic brakes): Shimano GRX.
