Are Magura brakes worth it?
There is a lot to love about Magura’s four-pot MT7 Pro brakes, they’re light, reasonably priced, and with a customisation list as long as your arm they are certainly worth considering. Unlike other brakes that boast only the option to customise appearance, the MT7 is truly a shape-shifter.
Is Magura MT4 good?
Solid performance, easy adjustment on the fly, decent weight and a good price makes the new Magura MT4 disc brake a top pick. Germany’s Magura have been building disc brakes for many years and the latest development is their best yet.
Where are Magura brakes made?
Germany
Magura – Made in Germany In Bad Urach, close to Stuttgart in southern Germany, the MT6, 7, 8 and the HS-series are manufactured. Everything from the injection moulded parts to the final brake assembly is truly “Made in Germany.” Magura is more than just a brake manufacturer.
How do you sleep in Magura brakes?
New brake pads and rotors only attain their final braking force during the bedding-in phase. To achieve this ride on even ground and accelerate to a speed of 30 km/h before braking to a standstill. Repeat this process at least 30 times per brake. The brake pads and rotor are now bedded-in and can perform optimally.
Do Magura brakes work with Shimano rotors?
The brakes worked well enough on the Shimano rotors, but a few thread discoveries led to looking at specifications for rotors and the discovery that Magura tell you to throw their rotors away when they’re the same thickness Shimano rotors are new.
Can you use Shimano rotors with Magura brakes?
Registered. I switch wheels between magura rotors and shimano rotors and it works fine. I prefer the magura rotors though as that extra thickness is reassuring. You do have to pump the brakes up once or twic at most to get them to settled.
How thick are Magura rotors?
Speaking of rotors, Magura recommends their 2mm thick Storm HC rotor. Most rotors are 1.8mm thick and the thicker material here falls in line with Magura’s belief that heat management is of the utmost importance in brake performance.
When should I replace my Magura brake pads?
Magura brakes are to be replaced as soon as the backing plate and pad material measure less than 2.5mm in any section. SRAM brakes are to be replaced when the backing plate and pad material measures less than 3mm in any section. Shimano brakes are to be replaced when the pad material is less than 0.5mm.
Are Magura rotors thicker?
Magura rotors are 2.0mm thick, Shimano rotors are 1.8mm. Magura doesn’t recommend to go any thinner than 1.8mm.
Can I use TRP rotors with Shimano brakes?
Mountain Bike: TRP V-brakes are fully compatible with SRAM and Shimano levers.
Are thicker rotors better?
The thickness of a rotor is proportional to the amount of heat we want to retain and dissipate, two very different properties. A properly designed brake system will take into account the optimal operating temperature of the rotors and the pads. A thin solid rotor will retain more heat than a thicker vented rotor.
