No,cassette tapes are not extinct in any functional sense. The Maxell 5-pack shown above is the best selling blank cassette on Amazon. But they have other versions from Maxell, from TDK, from Sony, and probably a bunch of others. Far as I know, my Tascam 202 dual tape deck still works.
